Washington State Tax Structure Work Group to convene in early October

Contact: Candice Bock, Maggie Douglas

The Washington state Tax Structure Work Group will convene again October 9.

The Tax Structure Work Group, reauthorized by HB 2117 in 2019, focuses on policy proposals addressing key challenges to the state tax code including the regressivity of the tax system, impacts on small and start-up businesses, and impacts of tax exemptions. The Group also seeks to address key challenges, such alternatives to major state taxes and the one percent property tax limit.

AWC is a voting member of the work group. AWC’s representative is Vancouver Mayor Anne McEnerny-Ogle. The final report is due to the Legislature by December 31, 2024.
