AWC priority bill on TBDs is on the move

Contact: Brandy DeLange

Last week, the Senate Transportation committee heard SB 5510 (Rep. Curtis King, R–Yakima), which would modify the existing sales and use tax authority imposed by a transportation benefit district (TBD), and allow for voters to approve the tax every ten years in perpetuity. On Thursday, January 27, the committee voted to advance the bill to the Rules committee, inching the proposal closer to a Senate floor vote.

SB 5510 is an AWC legislative priority. We would like to thank the bill sponsors and members of the committee for helping to support city transportation funding needs.
