Growth Management Act reform survey

Contact: Carl Schroeder, Shannon McClelland

The Washington Department of Commerce is in Phase III of a multi-year effort to explore potential changes to the state’s growth planning framework. AWC and other interested parties have been meeting to find opportunities to produce concepts that could be advanced. The consulting group facilitating the process has developed an online survey to gauge interest and support on several concepts, including:

  • Varied Growth Management Act requirements for jurisdictions with different situations
  • Reducing conflicts, gaps, and redundancies in our planning laws
  • Annexations and the role of special purpose districts
  • Equity and environmental justice
  • Housing related tax benefits and middle housing

The survey is available until August 29. The project webpage has supporting materials you may want to review before taking the survey.
