State Tax Structure Work Group releases interim report and extends survey deadline

Contact: Candice Bock, Sheila Gall

The State Tax Structure Work Group released an interim report on its outreach to community and business groups and extended the deadline for additional input via its survey to January 31, 2022. The report summarizes input on ideas for changing Washington’s taxes. The work group held 14 tax town halls, including a specific meeting with cities in November; 29 presentations to community and business groups; and 5 multilingual focus groups last fall.

The House Finance Committee will hold a work session with an update on the interim report and committee’s work on January 11.

Cities are encouraged to provide input on the survey if you have not already. If you do not have time to complete the full survey, a short form option is also now available. Your city may also want to provide links to the survey in any upcoming newsletters or outreach to your community to broaden the scope of input.

Dates to remember

The work group is scheduled for a work session in the House Finance Committee on Tuesday, January 11 at 1:30 pm.
