Senate to hear three bills reimposing Initiative 976

Contact: Logan Bahr, Maggie Carol

The Senate Transportation Committee will hear three bills that seek to reimpose the entirety of or certain provisions of Initiative 976. The recently passed initiative lowers car tab fees and other transportation-specific revenues, including locally imposed vehicle license fees.

SB 6245 is sponsored by Sen. Steve O’Ban (R–Lakewood), and SB 6031 and SB 6350 are both sponsored by Sen. Phil Fortunato (R–Auburn). The bills are unlikely to move out of committee, as the initiative is currently being litigated.

AWC opposes these bills.

Dates to remember

SB 6031, SB 6245, and SB 6350 are scheduled for public hearing in the Senate Transportation Committee on Tuesday, February 4 at 3:30 pm
