Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is an important step in keeping data secure. MFA provides an additional layer of security by requiring two distinct forms of identification. The State Auditor’s Office recently put out an article on why strengthening passwords and using MFA is so important, including the ways hackers can compromise passwords and how MFA can help.

For AWC Employee Benefit Trust member cities, you are encouraged to enable MFA in SIMON. It's easy, and you can find out how here. For cities that aren’t Trust members, you can work with your own benefits providers and IT staff to integrate MFA and better protect your data.

Cybersecurity – MFA helps!

You can also listen to our podcast (S04E09: Cybersecurity for cities and towns) with Jim Kilmer, AWC Expo presenter about cyber security, why it’s a human resources issue, and how multi-factor authentication can help.
