Payments for opioid settlement distribution beginning this month

Contact: Candice Bock, Sheila Gall, Katherine Walton

The Attorney General’s (AG) settlement with three opioid distributors is now finalized and funds are due to be distributed to eligible cities this month. Eligible cities that signed on to the settlement will need to review and respond to emails from the settlement administrator this week regarding payment instructions for settlement funds in order to receive the first payments this month.

More information on the settlement agreement and the distributions expected by each entity is available on the AG's website.

The settlement administrator BrownGreer will be reaching out to the contact person at each city on the list provided by the Attorney General’s Office this week to create an account on the portal. Once an account has been created, the first possible payment dates are December 15, 2022, and December 30, 2022.

More information on the settlement agreement and the distributions expected by each entity is available on the AG's website. AWC recently published an article with more details on how settlement funds can be used and the requirement to form regional Opioid Abatement Councils (OACs). You can read the article here. More information on the December settlement fund distribution is available here.
