Office of Independent Investigations launches webpage

Contact: Candice Bock, Katherine Walton

The Office of Independent Investigations (OII) has launched their webpage, which can be found at oii.wa.gov. OII is not yet conducting investigations, but recently activated its hotline for law enforcement agencies to report incidents of deadly use-of-force cases.

The bill creating OII was part of a suite of police reform bills that the Legislature passed in 2021. A key recommendation from the Governor’s Task Force on Independent Investigations of Police Use of Force, the office’s purpose is to conduct thorough, transparent, and unbiased investigations of police use of force and other incidents involving law enforcement.
