County rural economic development sales tax credit dies

Contact: Candice Bock, Sheila Gall

HB 1333 did not pass the Legislature. The bill would have extended authority for the rural county sales tax for public facilities and economic development (referred to as the 0.09 sales tax) until 2054. It was ready for floor action in the Senate since February 28 but was not brought up for consideration.

Cities will continue to support this county sales tax credit authority when the bill is likely reintroduced next session.
