New approach to protecting consumer data

Contact: Sharon Swanson, Jacob Ewing

Companion bills in the House and Senate offer a new approach to protecting consumer data.

HB 1854, sponsored by Rep. Shelley Kloba (D–Kirkland), and its companion SB 5376, sponsored by Sen. Reuven Carlyle (D–Seattle), are unique compared to similar bills as they address both facial recognition technology and consumer data in the same bill.

Dates to remember

HB 1854 is scheduled for public hearing in the House Innovation, Technology & Economic Development Committee at 10 am on Friday, January 31.
