Medical programs
Please note: The following is a brief summary of the participation, eligibility and waiting period requirements of the AWC medical plans (Regence BlueShield, Asuris Northwest Health, and Kaiser Permanente). Final interpretation of any provision is governed by the master contract. Consult your benefit booklet or contact the AWC Trust for complete information on the plan rules and requirements.
Underwriting policy – medical
- Employers can offer a Regence/Asuris and Kaiser plan option to employees.
- Employers with less than five employees total must have 100% of eligible employees enrolled.
- Employers may break out defined work groups or bargaining units so long as the bargaining unit has more than five employees.
- 75% of eligible employees must be insured on a Trust-sponsored medical plan (or employer offered HMO).
- Employers may offer more than one Trust sponsored Regence/Asuris or Kaiser plan provided:
- 100% of the employees in a work group must have the same plan with each carrier.
- Split carrier coverage for employee & family members is not allowed.
- Employers can offer Regence/Asuris High Deductible Health plan or Kaiser High Deductible Health Plan along with other “core” Regence/Asuris and Kaiser plans.
- Employers can offer the Regence Accountable Health Network Plan along with other “core” Regence plans.
- If dependent coverage is offered, 75% of dependents without other medical insurance must be enrolled.
