Quiet year on environmental issues

Contact: Carl Schroeder, Shannon McClelland

It was a fairly quiet legislative session on environmental issues that affect cities. The bright spot was a bill to make it easier to address derelict vessels before they sink and cause damage. HB 2199 was spearheaded by the City of Poulsbo. The legislation makes it easier for abandoned vessels to qualify for state programs to finance disposal, including when owners cannot be identified.
