Washington Infrastructure Report 2025

Contact:

The Association of Washington Cities partnered with the Association of Business (AWB), Washington State Association of Counties (WSAC) and the Washington Public Ports Association (WPPA) to publish the 2025 report: Investing in Our Future: Infrastructure Needs in Washington.

The report reflects our shared commitment to ensuring Washington’s communities and economy remain strong, resilient, and positioned for growth.

Washington faces a wide range of infrastructure funding needs—spanning transportation, water, energy, public utilities, technology, and community services—to ensure both immediate improvements and long-term sustainability.

In addition to highlighting successful projects across the state that showcase the ongoing investments that are strengthening Washington’s communities and economy, the report shows that:

  • Washington contributes over $800 billion annually to the U.S. economy, underscoring the importance of robust infrastructure.
  • Critical infrastructure needs are growing as Washington’s population is forecast to reach 10 million by 2050.
  • Significant investments have helped address backlogs in transportation and water infrastructure, but further funding is essential.

The 2025 report is an update to the 2017 and 2019 infrastructure needs reports jointly published by all four associations.
