We received fantastic feedback from attendees about our member panelists we heard from during our Retro Annual Meeting and dinner, and wanted to share a few hot tips from Jean, Emily, and Kim. They’ve agreed, these are their five hottest tips!
- Be inquisitive, curious, and ask questions. Work with your AWC Retro Claims Coordinator! Use them as a resource and provide them with the information they need to best manage your claims.
- Get your employees back to work as soon as possible. Work with your supervisors to develop a couple of standardized light duty jobs that can be assigned to anyone. Then, work with your Claims Coordinator to develop light duty job descriptions so you’ll be prepared to offer the job when someone is ready for light duty work. Earn your Stay at Work (SAW) checks!
- Gain top-down support and communicate to employees and management about your workers’ compensation program. The more you make people aware, the more likely you are to get phone calls and be made aware of injuries and opportunities to get people back to work.
- Engage & train your supervisors and guide them through everything when they have an affected employee. Utilize them as additional support for the employees and ensure they can keep the communication lines flowing.
- Work with your team’s safety coordinator to create a proactive approach to having a culture where safety is top priority.
We find such value in hearing from other members sharing similar experiences. We plan to continue to incorporate this wherever possible. If you have any questions or would like more information on any of the tips above, talk to your claims coordinator today!
