The Governor’s Office seeks a city elected official to serve on the Citizens’ Committee on Pipeline Safety.

About the Citizens’ Committee on Pipeline Safety

The Washington State Citizens Committee on Pipeline Safety is a governor-appointed committee that meets regularly to discuss, identify, review, and highlight pipeline safety issues on a local and national level. The committee consists of nine voting members representing the public, including local government, and elected officials. Four non-voting members represent owners and operators of hazardous liquid and gas pipelines. The committee is staffed by the Utilities and Transportation Commission’s Pipeline Safety Program. Time commitment, travel expenses

Committee meetings are generally held four times a year in the months of September, November, March, and May. The Committee may also meet on an as needed basis. Committee meetings are generally held four times a year in the months of September, November, March, and May. The Committee may also meet on an as needed basis. Committee members may be reimbursed for travel and other expenses in accordance with state law. Any authorized expenses are covered by the Utilities and Transportation Commission. AWC does not cover travel expenses.

Application process

The AWC Board of Directors will review applications at its February meeting and submit nominees to the Governor’s Office for consideration of appointment. Final appointment of one individual will be made by the Governor.

Those interested in serving must complete both steps below:

  1. Complete the AWC interest form, including your qualifications and attached resume.
  2. Complete the application for gubernatorial appointment. This application is sent directly to the Governor’s office and it will not be part of the materials reviewed by the AWC Board of Directors. Therefore, it is important your AWC interest form provide details pertinent to this position.
