Apply to serve on the Shorelines Hearings Board

Contact: Alicia Seegers Martinelli

AWC seeks city elected officials and senior staff who are familiar with land use permitting, the Shoreline Management Act, and the State Environmental Policy Act to serve as an alternate member on the Shorelines Hearings Board.

About the Shorelines Hearings Board

The Shorelines Hearings Board hears and decides appeals of shoreline building and construction permits, or penalty orders issued by local or state government. The six-member board convenes as needed throughout the year to hear appeals. Five city representatives serve on the board and rotate to fill the city representative seat. It is estimated each city member will serve to hear three to six appeals a year. Learn more about the Shorelines Hearings Board.

Time commitment, travel expenses

The Board meets multiple times each year in different formats. Board members receive the compensation, travel, and subsistence expenses as provided in RCW 43.03.050 and 43.03.060. AWC does not cover travel expenses.
