Mark your calendars for Monday, August 8, to join the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) for an informational meeting on the state’s $518 million opioid settlement and what it means for your city.
In May, Attorney General Bob Ferguson announced a $518 million settlement with several major opioid distributors. To receive a portion of those funds, cities with a population over 10,000 will need to sign the participation form for the settlement agreement
and submit it to the AGO by September 23, 2022.
The August 8 informational meeting will provide city leaders and staff the opportunity to learn more about settlement as well as pose questions to AGO staff.
Once a time is determined for the event, AWC will send out a general communication to all cities.
Please note that AWC is facilitating the sharing of information between the AGO and cities. AWC is not part of the litigation and does not have a position on the pending litigation or the settlement offers. The information contained in these materials
is for informational purposes and should not be considered legal advice. Each city will need to determine its own course of action in consultation with its legal counsel.
