Local option parks funding bill returns this year

Contact: Candice Bock, Sheila Gall

HB 1025, sponsored by Rep. Emily Wicks (D–Everett), would authorize cities, counties, metropolitan park districts, and park and recreation districts to impose a voter-approved .1% local sales tax for parks funding. The bill was introduced last year and is scheduled to be heard again this year. The funding may be used to acquire, construct, improve, and fund park maintenance and improvement. Jurisdictions may also use the revenues to finance bonds for up to 20 years for those park capital and maintenance purposes.

Date to remember

HB 1025 is scheduled to be heard in the House Finance Committee on Tuesday, January 18 at 1:30 pm.
