New funding opportunity for rapid housing development

The Department of Commerce Housing Finance Unit announced the second phase of a new solicitation for projects seeking capital funding from the state Housing Trust Fund, to acquire or rent real property in Washington state for rapid conversion to:

  • Enhanced emergency shelters,
  • Permanent supportive housing,
  • Transitional housing,
  • Permanent (not supportive) housing,
  • Youth housing,
  • Drop-in centers (Phase III funding only), or
  • Shelters.

 

For Phase II of the rapid capital housing acquisition opportunity, the following project activity types are considered eligible:

  • Projects involving acquisition only,
  • Projects involving acquisition with minor (health & safety) rehab,
  • Projects involving acquisition with moderate rehab,
  • Youth housing and shelter projects that involve rehabilitation of existing facilities, and
  • Projects involving the rental of real property.

Applications will be solicited in three phases. Phase II applications are due to Commerce by Noon, Nov. 10, 2021. See 2021 Rapid Capital Housing Acquisition Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) Appendix B for application evaluation criteria.
