New police use of force laws took effect July 25 – Training materials available from CJTC

The Criminal Justice Training Commission (CJTC) has released training materials related to the upcoming changes to state law for use of force by law enforcement officers. These changes took effect on July 25.

We encourage cities to review these educational resources, which cover topics such as patrol tactics, scene safety, probable cause, proportionality, and de-escalation.

The training materials are presented as three PowerPoint presentations:
