High-risk utility workers eligible for COVID-19 vaccine starting March 31

Contact: Marian Dacca, Maggie Douglas

Washington is preparing to move into 1B Tiers 3 and 4 this week, opening vaccination opportunities to high-risk critical workers in certain congregate settings, including restaurants, food services, construction, and manufacturing.

Utility workers often work in similar congregate settings—both indoor and outdoor—where it is not possible to remain socially distanced while performing job duties. Because of this, the Governor’s Office deemed the job of utility workers as “construction” for the purpose of granting them vaccine eligibility starting March 31.

Eligible employees can use the Department of Health’s vaccine locator tool or search vaccination sites by county. For more information, visit the Department’s COVID-19 resource page, or check out our recent blog post here.
