Two weeks ago, AWC reported on Rep. Hansen’s broadband bill, HB 1336.
As originally drafted, the bill provided expanded authority to all public entities to be able to provide broadband and telecommunication services within their jurisdictions.
First-class and code cities currently have this authority and are working with Rep. Hansen to be removed from the bill. Second-class cities and towns will remain in the legislation. AWC supports HB 1336 and state policies and funding that provide greater
access and equity for broadband services, including providing expanded authority for local governments.
