Behavioral health grants fund new beds and services across the state

Contact: Sharon Swanson, Jacob Ewing

In October, the Department of Commerce awarded $33.8 million in grants to 22 projects across the state, enabling the recipients to create a total of 395 new beds and to fund additional outpatient services.

The grants are a part of Governor Inslee’s plan to modernize and transform Washington’s mental health system and will provide local community placements for people leaving Eastern and Western State Hospitals. Grants will be used for construction, acquisition, or equipment costs associated with establishing the facilities. Recipients must maintain their facilities for at least 15 years.

A full list of recipients in available on Commerce’s website.
