SB 6135, sponsored by Sen. Tim Sheldon (D–Shelton), proposes to speed up the state’s evaluation of system reliability, which was a requirement in the passage of last year’s Clean Energy Transformation Act (CETA).
CETA currently requires an assessment of whether electric utilities have sufficient electric generation resources to meet certain standards and practices. This bill makes the assessment due in 2022, two years earlier than current law.
This bill also requires recommendation for legislative action if the assessment determines that utilities do not have sufficient resources.

SB 6135 was passed by the Senate in mid-February and is now in the House Environment and Energy Committee. The bill is scheduled for public hearing in the committee on Tuesday, February 25 at 3:30 pm.
