The Public Records Exemptions Accountability Committee (Sunshine Committee) has released their 2019 annual report.
In the report, the committee made new recommendations to the Legislature related to religious affiliation exemptions and exemptions related to juvenile records under the Washington State Public Records Act (PRA).
The Sunshine Committee was established by the Legislature in 2007 to review public disclosure exemptions under the PRA and make recommendations to the Legislature as to the continuation, modification, or elimination of each exemption.
The committee is made up of various appointees from the Legislature, local government, the state Attorney General’s Office, the media, the state Auditor’s Office, and the Office of the Governor.
