In an effort to bring more members into Kaiser Permanente’s integrated care system, they are making changes to their network in the Puget Sound and Northern Washington service areas. While Kaiser has added over 400 providers to the Washington Permanente Medical Group, including adding facilities in Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood and West Olympia, they will also have some providers move out of the network.
Individual Medicare Advantage plans will see provider changes, but the Trust’s group Medicare Advantage plans are not impacted. Members currently seeking care from any impacted provider can continue their course of treatment, and Kaiser will assist members in transitioning care. Kaiser is also actively communicating with impacted members directly.
Among the planned network changes to be effective January 2020 are:
San Juan County – effective 1/1/2020 San Juan County will no longer be a part of Kaiser Permanente Washington’s Service.
Kitsap, Pierce, Snohomish, Thurston and King counties – As we have added providers to our current Kaiser clinic locations in addition to our new clinic openings in Gig Harbor, South Lake Union (Seattle), West Olympia, and Ballard (Seattle), we are removing some contracted primary care and OB/GYN providers in these areas.
Planned network changes to be effective April 2020 are:
Snohomish County – Our newest clinic will open in Smokey Point in March 2020. With the opening of this clinic we are removing some of our contracted primary care providers in the area.
