Association of Washington Cities (AWC) is recruiting for a Risk Control Coordinator for the AWC Risk Management Service Agency (RMSA) to join our dynamic and fast-paced team. The top candidate will be highly motivated, detail oriented and able to provide excellent customer service.

What you'll be doing

  • Plan, schedule, and conduct on-site risk assessments and facilities inspections relating to property and liability loss exposures and make recommendations to members to control or reduce loss exposures.
  • Develop risk management recommendation reports and monitor members’ compliance with recommendations.
  • Assist members in the planning and implementation of safety and risk management programs.
  • Identify issues and prepare materials to be presented to governance and advisory groups for modification of safety and risk-related program services and presenting those items at the appropriate meetings.
  • Develop, review, and/or revise safety and risk control content for all program related communications including the content of marketing materials and the website.
  • Develop, review, and/or revise the technical content for risk control manuals and other resources for member use.
  • Support member education and program staff by identifying training needs, evaluating training strategies and contributing to the updating of training materials and offerings.
  • Work closely with claims staff to identify risks of individual members and overall loss trends and exposures of the program. Conduct accident investigations if requested by the Claims Manager.
  • Assist members with contract drafting and insurance verification from third parties with regard to contractual risk transfer and indemnification.
  • Answer risk management and program specific questions from members and other interested parties.
  • Travel to various State and National conferences for program representation, member relationship management, and professional development.
  • Conduct safety and risk control trainings as needed at member locations and State and National conferences.
  • Staff various events of the organization
  • Work on special projects as assigned.

What you bring to the team

  • Associate degree in business or public administration, insurance, risk management or related field required
  • Associate in Risk Management (ARM) or similar designation desired
  • Certified Loss Control Specialist (CLCS), Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) designation desired
  • 3-5 years’ experience in the delivery of safety or risk control services
  • Extensive knowledge of current, general, and federal safety and environmental laws
  • Ability to manage travel schedule for efficient service delivery
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills, articulates clearly both with the written and spoken word
  • Skilled in designing and delivering presentations to a to diversified groups
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and to collaborate on program initiatives
  • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize multiple diverse work tasks to meet deadlines

The Risk Management Service Agency (RMSA) is a local government property and liability risk pool comprised of member cities and towns, sponsored and managed by the AWC.
