On Wednesday, February 13, the Senate Committee on State Government, Tribal Relations & Elections held a public hearing on SB 5784, concerning public records disclosure of the legislative branch. If passed, the legislative branch would be subject to the Public Records Act, but certain records, including draft materials and caucus communications, would be exempt from disclosure. During the public hearing, representatives of the news media and open government advocates expressed strong opposition to the proposal.
