The Public Works Board approved $5.4 million in loans to communities in need. Eight of the ten loans approved at the August Public Works Board meeting were awarded to cities. This is the first time in five years that the Public Works Board has funded this many needed infrastructure projects within our communities.
The 2018 Pre-Construction Loan Awards:
- City of Deer Park – $325,000 for Sixth Street drinking water reservoir replacement
- City of Dayton – $1 million for wastewater treatment plant land acquisition
- Town of Rosalia – $71,300 for water system improvements
- King County Water District #111 – $180,000 for Well 6 rehabilitation
- City of Pasco – $1 million for process water reuse facility improvement expansion
- City of Rock Island – $231,000 for water system improvement
- King County Water District #49 – $1 million for 575 Zone reservoir and booster pump station
- City of Camas – $1 million for SR500 (Everett Street) and Lake Road Intersection
- City of Waitsburg – $90,000 for waterline upgrades
- City of Cle Elum – $533,240 for downtown revitalization
After many years of diverting funds, the 2018 Legislature authorized $14 million to help local governments strengthen their communities’ infrastructure. Local governments appreciate the Legislature’s support for this important funding source.
