Special message from the AWC CEO

Contact: Peter King

As you may already know, Dave Williams, AWC Government Relations Director will retire at the end of June. Dave has worked at AWC for the past 32 years, and served as Government Relations Director for the past seven years. His passion and advocacy efforts have led to stronger communities throughout the state. I want to express my deep appreciation for Dave and his commitment to Washington’s 281 cities and towns. Please join me in thanking Dave for his many contributions during his tenure and wishing him a happy retirement.

I also want to welcome Candice Bock back to AWC in the role of Government Relations Director. You may know Candice from her previous work at AWC as a Government Relations Advocate. She is a well-respected leader and has demonstrated her ability to advance a variety of city interests and work collaboratively with legislative and executive leaders and stakeholders. She was a member of our advocacy team for eight years prior to departing to City of Lacey in 2017 to serve as Director of Administrative Services.

Candice has a strong city management background and understanding of the challenges facing elected and appointed officials in cities throughout our state. Prior to joining AWC in 2009, she served in a variety of city management positions at the cities of Carnation, Lakewood, and Richland. She has an MPA and BA from the University of Colorado.

Candice begins her new role guiding our talented government relations team next week at the Annual Conference. Please join me in welcoming Candice in this role. As of Wednesday June 27, you can reach her at candiceb@awcnet.org.
