Washington State Attorney General Bob Ferguson recently released two new bilingual guides for employees and employers regarding rights in the workplace.
Pregnancy rights in the workplace guide
In 2017, the Legislature passed the Healthy Starts Act. The act provides civil rights protections to pregnant employees at workplaces with more than 14 employees. The guide, available as a flyer in both Spanish and English, lays out the accommodations an employer with 15 or more employees must provide under the new law.
Sexual harassment in the workplace guide
Current discussions surrounding sexual harassment, including the #MeToo Movement, prompted Ferguson to issue a flyer as a way of helping those who experience harassment. The flyer, available in both Spanish and English, lays out the definition and types of sexual harassment, requirements for employers, and steps employees can take if they experience sexual harassment.
