Ladder safety

Ensure that employees utilizing a ladder evaluate the space that they will be working in prior to climbing, and that they always maintain three points of contact with the ladder. For larger projects around the city, if workers are using boom trucks to hang decorations and lights, ensure they are using appropriate fall protection. Working around traffic needs a plan, visible personal protective equipment, and appropriate space.

Winter driving

Winter driving can also pose hazards, whether in personal or fleet vehicles. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) partnered with the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) to create a safe winter driving handout, reviewing the three P’s of safe winter driving, valuable information on preparing your vehicles for winter, and driving tips to prevent crashes. To ensure your people and citizens can get to their cars safely, ensure that walkways and parking lots are suitably de-iced for the weather.
