The JLARC public records reporting system is now open until August 1 for 2022 reporting.

The JLARC public records reporting system is now open until August 1 for 2022 reporting.

Agencies that spend over $100,000 in staff and legal costs associated with maintaining public records and responding to records requests are required to report (RCW 40.14.026). Agencies below the threshold should also consider voluntarily reporting their metrics.

If your city meets the $100,000 threshold and has not yet reported data for 2022, please ensure that a report is submitted by the August 1 deadline.

Accurate and up-to-date public records data gives legislators and advocates a clearer picture of the work that local governments do. For more, see AWC’s advocacy on public records bills from the most recent legislative session.

Cities can access the reporting system and additional guidance documents through the JLARC website.

If you have questions, please review the reporting instructions or email JLARCPublicRecStudy@leg.wa.gov.
