HB 1929, sponsored by Rep. Peter Abbarno (R–Centralia), would create a new grant program for capital projects for the provision of fire protection services in rural counties.

HB 1929, sponsored by Rep. Peter Abbarno (R–Centralia), would create a new grant program for capital projects for the provision of fire protection services in rural counties. The grant program would be limited to local governments in counties with a population density of less than 100 people per square mile or an area less than 225 square miles. The grant program would be administered by the Department of Commerce, and a committee that includes local government representatives would develop the program criteria.

AWC appreciates this effort to support smaller communities’ public safety needs.
