Budget and finance bills going into effect soon

Although legislators were initially anticipating a strong economic forecast for the year, COVID-19 has largely upended the economy and threatened many of our state and local revenue sources.

Although legislators were initially anticipating a strong economic forecast for the year, COVID-19 has largely upended the economy and threatened many of our state and local revenue sources. Governor Inslee’s post-session vetoes were largely informed by the anticipation of an economic recession—hence, many of the bills that provided new funding did not pass.

There are several bills impacting city finance that will take effect within the next month:

Provides mitigation payments for the support of manufacturing and job centers in manufacturing and warehousing communities negatively impacted by the Streamlined Sales and Use Tax

Governor vetoed.
