Net ecological gain proviso adopted

The “net ecological gain” bill we’ve reported on this session was converted into a study bill.

Some readers will remember the proposal this year from the environmental community to convert the state and local natural resource laws from a “no net loss” standard to a “net ecological gain” approach.

There were significant concerns raised about the wisdom, legal authority, and financial implications of this change. HB 2550 was converted into a study to consider these and other factors and report back to the Legislature.
