Comprehensive plan timelines bill rescued from the grave

A few weeks ago, a proposal to extend timelines for cities to update their Growth Management Act (GMA) comprehensive plans from every-eight-years to every-ten-years appeared dead.

A few weeks ago, a proposal to extend timelines for cities to update their Growth Management Act (GMA) comprehensive plans from every-eight-years to every-ten-years appeared dead.

It came back to life! HB 2342 was amended to narrow the impact. The version that was passed will allow the conversation to continue while addressing some of the short-term issues brought forward by those affected. All counties and cities have their deadlines extended out by one year, allowing the use of more accurate population forecasts.

In addition, Kitsap County and the cities within moved into the same update group with the rest of the Puget Sound Regional Council jurisdictions – an important change that they had been requesting.
