A proposal to ban railroad companies from blocking emergency vehicles at railroad intersections will be heard in the House.
HB 2923, sponsored by Rep. Strom Peterson (D–Edmonds), prohibits railroad companies from blocking railroad intersections when the crew has become aware of law enforcement or emergency vehicles approaching the intersection. The bill requires railroad companies to clear the intersection by the fastest available option and any railroad company that violates this policy is subject to penalties.

HB 2923 will be heard in the House Transportation Committee on February 10 at 1:30 pm.
The companion bill, SB 6675, sponsored by Sen. Derek Stanford (D–Bothell), has not been scheduled for public hearing.
