SB 6135 proposed to speed up the state’s evaluation of system reliability, which was a requirement in the passage of last year’s Clean Energy Transformation Act (CETA). Current law requires an assessment of whether electric utilities have sufficient electric generation resources to meet certain standards and practices.
SB 6135, sponsored by Sen. Tim Sheldon (D-Shelton), makes the assessment due in 2022, two years earlier than current law. The bill also requires recommendation for legislative action if the assessment determines that utilities do not have sufficient resources.
Dates to remember
The bill will be heard at 10 am on Tuesday, January 21 in the Senate Environment, Energy & Technology Committee.
