Your AWC Retro Program Policies require each employer to let AWC Retro know about any safety and health citations issued by DOSH against your organization.

Your AWC Retro Program Policies require each employer to let AWC Retro know about any safety and health citations issued by DOSH against your organization. This allows us an opportunity to help both your organization and other program members.

Monitoring trends, communicating with members

Knowing which of our members has had an inspection by DOSH, and what citations were issued, helps us be aware of what specific issues DOSH is targeting. As we monitor for trends in citations, we are better able to help educate members on issues being focused on by compliance officers. When we spot citation trends, we send out information in YRR articles and during safety consultation visits.

Citations are time-sensitive, Retro may be able to help!

If we know about your citation soon enough, we are also able to help review the citation and offer suggestions and assistance; this can be with both the abatement of citations and possible appeal of the citations if you feel the citation was incorrect or unwarranted. Because appeals to DOSH citations are time-sensitive, no time should be wasted in advising AWC Retro about citations received.

The policy

DOSH inspections or citations:“Each participating employer must report an onsite DOSH onsite inspection within 5 business days, and must report a citation within 10 business days regardless of whether or not the Participating Employer is appealing the citations or if the citation carried a monetary value”. Send your notification to Retro staff.Once received, we will contact you to see if you require any assistance with either appeal or abatement of the citation. The citation process is one that can be long, daunting, and unfamiliar for most because they are infrequent. Let us help you through the process!
