2SHB 1059, which moves the due date for annual filers of B&O tax from January 31 to April 15, is in the Senate Rules Committee awaiting further action to make it eligible for floor action.
Cities with local B&O taxes are required to follow the state’s timelines for filing of tax returns and would be impacted by this change in state law. To help B&O cities prepare for the delay in annual filer revenues, the amended version of the bill is intended to extend the deadline for cities to implement change to returns filed in 2021 for the 2020 tax period.
The filing timelines for B&O tax monthly and quarterly filers would remain unchanged.
