HB 1772, sponsored by Rep. Nicole Macri (D–Seattle), would set a regulatory framework for motorized foot scooters statewide. The Senate companion, SB 5751, was heard last week in the Senate Transportation Committee. AWC Government Relations Advocate Logan Bahr and City of Tacoma Government Affairs Manager Randy Lewis testified at the hearing and laid out a series of concerns, starts at: 43:56, entire public testimony is from 43:30 – 55:58.
AWC is working with the sponsors to address the bill’s limitations on local fees, regulatory constraints, parking requirements, and other problematic provisions of the bill.
