Two bills regulating the use of technology by government entities are scheduled for public hearings.

Two bills regulating the use of technology by government entities are scheduled for public hearings. HB 1655 restricts the use of automated decision systems or algorithms used by public agencies and contractors.

HB 1654 places a moratorium the use of facial recognition technology in public spaces by public agencies pending input by a new task force.

We’d like to hear if and how your city is using these types of technologies and how these bills may impact them. Contact Candice or Brandon to weigh in.

Dates to remember

The bills will be heard on Wednesday, February 6 at 8 am in the House Innovation, Technology, & Economic Development Committee.
