AWC-backed <strong><a target="_blank" href="https://app.leg.wa.gov/billsummary?BillNumber=1666&amp;Initiative=false&amp;Year=2019">HB 1666</a></strong> is scheduled for a public hearing.

AWC-backed HB 1666 is scheduled for a public hearing. HB 1666 allows cities who introduce a resolution to voters to adopt a council-manager form of government the ability to combine this resolution with a resolution proposing to designate a council position as the council chair as described in RCW 35A.13.033.

Currently this action takes two separate propositions to voters during two separate election cycles. This bill aims to minimize confusion with voters and reduce costs to taxpayers when city voters consider adopting a council-manager form of government.

Dates to remember

The bill is scheduled for a public hearing on Friday, February 8 at 10 am in the House Local Government Committee.
