The Washington State Department of Commerce recently announced that 16 Washington cities will receive Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) awards for 2018. CDBG funding will go to improve rural water, sewer, streets, and fire protection systems and will help support local affordable housing, economic development, and community planning efforts.
The state CDBG program receives an annual funding allocation from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and targets assistance to lower-income populations in rural areas.
