RMSA Member Standards changes

The RMSA Member Standards were revised by the RMSA Board of Directors to provide consistent administrative practices for members, reducing property and liability losses.

The RMSA Member Standards were adopted by the RMSA Board of Directors to provide consistent administrative practices for members, reducing property and liability losses. First adopted in 2016, the Standards were revised for 2019 and approved by the Board of Directors. Changes to each standard are detailed below.

 

Employment


Required Standard 1: Members must contact RMSA and allow RMSA to review the merits and risks of the termination and provide guidance at staff’s discretion prior to taking any personnel action that may result in the termination of an employee. New deductible – $5,000

Required Standard 2: All employees in a supervisory capacity, including elected officials, shall complete at least one employment practices training annually. New deductible – $1,000

 

Driving


Required Standard 1: All drivers must complete a defensive driving training prior to operating a member vehicle. New deductible – $1,000

New Required Standard 2: All drivers of emergency vehicles shall complete an EVOC/EVIP training before driving a member vehicle, and at least every three years thereafter. New deductible – $1,000

 

Public works


Required Standard 1: Members shall retain documentation of routine inspections of sanitary/stormwater sewer systems. New deductible – $1,000

Required Standard 2: Members shall retain documentation confirming complaints, and the responses to complaints regarding sidewalks and streets. New deductible – $1,000

 

Land use


Required Standard: No change. New deductible – $1,000

 

Law enforcement


Required Standard: No change. New deductible – $1,000
