Join state officials in discussion on Trueblood proposed agreement

The Governor&rsquo;s Office and Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) have agreed to an opportunity with AWC and interested parties to discuss the proposed agreed settlement in <em>Trueblood v. Washington State DSHS</em>.

The Governor’s Office and Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) have agreed to an opportunity with AWC and interested parties to discuss the proposed agreed settlement in Trueblood v. Washington State DSHS.

The team will discuss the 14 substantive points being proposed in the agreement. The substantive points address:

  • The state’s responsibility to meet the 14-day evaluation standard;
  • Legislative changes to reduce the number of individuals ordered to restoration;
  • Community-based supports including residential diversion programs;
  • Additional forensic inpatient bed capacity;
  • Case management to assess appropriate and least restrictive treatment options;
  • Increased law enforcement and corrections training including best practices; and
  • Workforce development to increase the number of mental health professionals statewide.
