City option to extend state property tax exemption to local levy lid lift

<a target="_blank"href="http://app.leg.wa.gov/billsummary?BillNumber=2597&amp;Year=2017#videoSection"><strong>HB 2597</strong></a> would give local governments the option to exempt qualifying senior citizens, persons retired due to disability, and veterans suffering from a total service-related disability from paying property taxes on the amounts associated with a local levy lid lift.

HB 2597 would give local governments the option to exempt qualifying senior citizens, persons retired due to disability, and veterans suffering from a total service-related disability from paying property taxes on the amounts associated with a local levy lid lift. The exemption already exists for school district levies and a portion of the state property tax.

The bill has passed out of the House and is currently waiting in the Senate Committee on Ways & Means.
