This past legislative session saw the creation of a new employee benefit system, the Paid Family and Medical Leave program (PFML). The program is intended to cover all employees and provide 12 weeks of paid leave for medical disability or family-related health reasons, such as a child’s birth or illness. The Employment Security Department (ESD) is initiating rulemaking by providing a public meeting on December 19 to discuss and receive input on collective bargaining agreements, voluntary plans, and premiums. More information is found on ESD’s website here. Please contact AWC staffer Logan Bahr at LoganB@awcnet.org with questions.
