Legislature bans employers from microchipping employees

Contact: Candice Bock, Leah White

Yes, you read correctly. The Legislature passed HB 2303, which bans employers from requiring or pressuring employees to be microchipped for employment purposes. While this may sound like a far-fetched, Gattaca–style sci-fi concept, there is precedence for employers doing just that in other states over the last few years. With new developments and usage of various technologies that span industries, personal privacy has recently become a greater public concern and a large conversation in this legislative session.

The bill is on the Governor’s desk awaiting signature.
